Gone to Galilee 2005
Photo Gallery
Each of Trinity’s Year 9 classes has just completed its Galilee Retreat. This Retreat encourages the boys to use their imaginations and to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. At various points along the way, they stop to meditate on different aspects of Jesus’ life and his message.
After Jesus died on the cross, the disciples went to the tomb and were surprised to be told that he was no longer dead, but that he had risen of gone to Galilee (Matt 28:7). Galilee was very significant for Jesus. It was in Galilee that he wanted the disciples to begin their ministry.
The Year 9 boys, whose whole course of Religious education is focussed on Jesus of Nazareth, took with them only food and drink that would have been available to Jesus in Galilee. They spend time meditating on Jesus calling us to follow his example and to be modern day disciples. They are challenged to serve one another just as Jesus did.
This year the Retreats took place on the Burswood side of the Swan River, and the groups were transported there by boat, thanks to the Year 11 students. When the sun has been shining, these outdoor Galilee Retreats have been very popular with our very active and energetic Year 9s. We are very grateful to all the staff members who have lead these Retreats this year.
