"Nothing is more conducive to communion with the Living God than a meditative common prayer with singing that never ends, but continues in the silence of one's heart, when one is alone again."

Live Jesus in our hearts forever!

?Be constant in prayer
and whatever will happen
will turn to our good.
Place all your cares
in the hands of Divine Providence.?

- Edmund Rice

Blessed Edmund Rice was essentially a man of great faith. All of his good works and acts of kindness sprang from his deep relationship with God.

Prayer at Trinity

At Trinity we recognize and affirm that the spiritual dimension of the human person is not only as important as the intellectual, physical and cultural dimension, but that in our increasingly secular and materialistic society, it is the primary duty of educationists to assist our students to nurture their in our students a deep sense of the sacred, and to nourish their relationship with God.

We encourage all of our students to prayer regularly. At the start of every day each homeroom joins together in prayer, and at the start of each lesson the boys are asked to pray. These prayers are not just the recitation of a formula, nor a request list. But rather it is a short moment when students are encouraged to recall the presence of God in their lives. They are reminded that prayer can take many forms ? praise, petition, thanksgiving etc ? but most importantly it is an expression of love.

To assist in this, many resources are provided: twelve pages of prayers in the school diary; a teacher's book of daily prayer services for teens; links on the net and so on.

What is prayer

?Prayer is the expression of the human heart in conversation with God. The more natural the prayer, the more real he becomes. It has all been simplified for me to this extent: Prayer is a dialogue between two persons who love each other.? ? Rosalind Rinker

Why pray

How to pray

Pope John Paul II indicates that people sometimes say they don't know how to pray. "How to pray? This is a simple matter. I would say: Pray any way you like, so long as you do pray." You can pray the way your mother taught you; you can use a prayer book. Sometimes it takes courage to pray; but it is possible to pray, and necessary to pray. Whether from memory or a book or just in thought, it is all the same. See, John Paul II, The Way of Prayer, Crossroad Publishing Co. (1995).

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.

You know when I sit down or stand up.

You know my every thought when far away ?.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to know. I can never escape your spirit!

I can never get away from your presence!

If I go up to heaven, you are there;

If I go down to the place of the dead, you are there.

If I ride the wings of the morning,

If I dwell in the farthest oceans,

Even there your hand will guide me,

And your strength will support me.

- Psalm 139

And how do we better understand this hand that silently guides us? How do we take in this strength that quietly supports us? You guessed it: prayer.
