Undoubtedly, the highest honour one can achieve during his time at Trinity College is to become a Special Minister of the Eucharist.
The role of the Special Minister of the Eucharist must be one of both being and giving the Body of Christ. It is one of serving the people of God ? the Trinity community ? by assisting in the distribution of the Body and Blood of the Lord.
At Trinity College, Special Ministers of the Eucharist are rostered to serve at all school Masses including Masses for the Primary School, Year Levels, whole of school and school camps. They will be asked to assist with the distribution of Ashes at the Ash Wednesday Mass.
How to Become Involved
Towards the end of the year, all Year 11 students are invited to consider applying for this special ministry. Application forms are available from Campus Ministry. Students who wish to apply must get their parish priests to sign the form acknowledging the fact that they attend Sunday Mass regularly in that parish. Applicants are expected to have
Training
Successful applicants will be required to attend two special training sessions, - one of which is a Twilight Retreat. During these sessions students will complete the Archdiocesan Course for Special Ministers of the Eucharist.
Mass of Induction
At the beginning of the new school year, these Special Ministers of the Eucharist receive their badges and Certificates. They are commissioned to serve the school community for one year. Their parish priests are notified and encouraged to invite the boys to serve in the |
